Airline tickets can be awfully expensive.  If you plan on purchasing your tickets without doing your research first, you’re going to find out that you’re more than likely going to overpay.  If you know how to do your searching, you can easily save 40, 50, or even more on your tickets!

1.  Check out hot deal sites: My personal favorite site that deals with hot travel deals is Travelzoo.  I absolutely love this site.  Not only can you find some killer deals on flight tickets, you can find deals on hotels, rental cars, and more.  They tend to update this site on a weekly basis.

2.  Use comparison engines: Kayak.com is a perfect example of how you can compare prices the right way.  This is a very easy to use search engine and what you’re going to want to do is input the data such as the destination, as well as where you’re leaving from.  They will then check just about every airline out there and come back to you with a price.  You can use your best judgement to find out what is best for you.

3.  Name your own price: I think  I purchase just about everything on Priceline.  From my airline tickets to my hotel room with them.  What I have found out is that you can name your own price.  Basically, how its going to work is that you tell Priceline what you’re willing to pay.  They will ask all the companies to see if anyone wants to accept.  If someone accepts, you get your price.

4.  Book direct with the airline: If you’re loyal with an airline, you’re going to find that you can get some deals directly with them.  What you’re going to find out is that not only can you pass on the booking fees, you can also find special deals from that particular airline.  Just tell the airline where you want to go and where you’re flying from and they will give you some deals that you can take advantage of.

These are all tips that you can take in order to save money on your next flight.  What you may also find out is that if you buy in packages, during off season times, as well on particular days, you can save even more money!
