So, you’re in the market to find a cash back credit card, but you really don’t know how the process works.  That’s okay, because you’re not alone.  I wanted to show you how the process works, and what you can do in order to get the most out of your cash back card.

Know what kind of rewards there are

The first thing that you want to look at is what kind of rewards are out there.  There are point systems, and a cash back system.  While they are similar in the way, you need to know how they work, and this is how it’s done.

  • Points: For every dollar you spend, you’re going to get “points”.  You can picture these points as fake dollars.  Once you get enough points, you can then exchange them for gifts such as electronics, gift cards, etc.
  • Cash Back: Getting cash back is the favorite among most people.  This is when you’ll get a percentage back for every dollar you spend.  Let’s say that your rate is 3%.  Every dollar you spend, you’re going to get .03 back.

Pay off your card in FULL

With any reward credit card, you need to know how it works, so that you can take full advantage.  If you don’t pay your card off in full each, and every month, you’re going to find that you’re going to pay more in interest than you get back in rewards.  This is why you have to remember that you should pay your card off in full each, and every month, and there shouldn’t be no exceptions on this one.

Get rewards that you can use

When you’re looking for reward cards, you’re going to notice that each one of them is different.  One card is going to give you a certain percentage back on gas, while the other gives you some money back on groceries.  I want you to look at your budget, and see where you spend the more of your money.  You’ll then want a card that will give you the most back.

These are the three things that you should look into when looking for a reward based card.  Look them over, and it should hopefully give you a better idea on what card you should choose.
